Black and White and a bit of Accent

I'm a guest designer for this week's challenge at Quirky Crafts, and I was lucky enough to get to play with this delightful image from Limited Runs...one of their fabulous sponsors.

My niece is expecting, hence the idea for my card, which is sure to bring a smile.   I've gone with a step card, using some DP from Basic Grey's Out of Print collection and black cardstock for the matting and leaves.  I even scrounged around and found a pretty black bow and matching buttons in my stash.  Now, if only having babies was this easy...we'd have more of them, right?   ha ha ha!

Now be sure to head over to the challenge blog and check out what the DT has to share!  There are some wonderful prizes up for grabs too, so why not give it at go with your Black and White card!

Fussy and Feminine

Good morning to everyone this nice spring day....I'm hoping!  It looks to be sunny and cooler....spring jacket weather, but that's okay.  There's still lots to do outside, and that is no fun when it gets too hot.

Today I've got a card using this pretty Wedding Shoe image from Just Inklined.  No weddings coming up so I think I will use it for a birthday card.  It wistfully takes one back....to when shoes were bought for style rather than comfort!

The image is lightly coloured with copics, and then I've added stickles to the flowers for lots of sparkle.  A pretty bow and matching pearls along with a number of die cuts go into the making of this simple but very feminine card.  As you can see, I've used the corner die in a different way...not in the corners but as a floral spray behind the matted image.

Supplies used:
Paper from MME - Honey Cake collection
Nellie Snellen - Oval Frame Die Set
Memory Box - Madera Corner die
Spellbinders - Inverted Scalloped Circles
Sentiment stamp from Wild Rose Studio

Thanks for stopping by today, and here's hoping you have a fun weekend!

Snow in May????

Good morning, and it's time for a new challenge at Charisma.  This week we are looking for cards...but no digi's....so it's a good excuse to pull out some of those stamps and get inky.  Since we actually saw some snow flurries this past Sunday, I thought this card was most appropriate!

I had some fun with this sweet image from Crissy Armstrong (Under the Mistletoe), and this time around I played with water colours.  As you may notice, I used the out of the box technique with the Spellbinders Labels Twenty die, matting it with the next larger size.

The papers are an oldie from Bo Bunny, and all the edges have been sponged with DI.  I've used a new product for the snow, something called 'Liquid Snow', which dries with quite a rough texture, to which I then added some glitter.

The snowflake border die is from Memory box, and the pine branch punch is from Martha Stewart.

Now for our sponsors with some wonderful prizes.

Prize 1

(winner gets to choose 5 digis)

Prize 2

(winner receives a £10 Voucher)

So, time to get crafty....leave that spring cleaning for another day!  Don't forget to have a look see what the rest of the team has been up to this week for lots of crafty inspiration!

It's Saturday again...

Well, it's the weekend again and here's hoping you all have a good one!  Looks like our weather is going to cool down for a bit, but that might be better for me when I start work on my gardens next week.  Our weather here has been more like summer...rather warm for yard work!

So today, I have a card with flowers...a DT card for Just Inklined using the pretty Hollyhocks image!  These are another favourite of mine, but I don't seem to have much luck with them as I lose them over the winter.  Oh well, maybe I'll try again this year.

As you can see, I've been shopping!  Had a play with some new dies and the result is a pretty feminine card that could be used for any occasion.  I've gone for a birthday card, using a new sentiment stamp from Wild Rose Studio.

Other supplies used:
Papers from American Crafts - Enchanted
Spellbinder's - Labels Twelve die for image
Marianne Designs - Swirls and Leaves 3

Not to be confused.....

Hello there!  I sure hope I don't confuse Mother Nature with my card today...I've really been enjoying the lovely spring weather we've been having, even if it does mean yard work, but I thought a Christmas card would make a nice change.

I had a bit of fun with my copics and this cute little Harvest Snowman image from Meljen's Designs.  Quite appropriate considering I'm working on cleaning up the yard from the fall and winter havoc.

This is a first time for using this Spellbinder ornament die, and I do like how it frames the image.  A few pearls and some punched greenery add a little extra interest, and then a bow and a couple of glittery snowflakes to finish it off.  The sentiment along the side is made with some rub-on letters...something I bought ages ago, but they've been hiding!

And of course, I found a few challenges for my card.

Meljen's Designs - #158 What's the Point
Crimbo Crackers - #40 Anything Goes

It's so hard to believe that another month has gone by and we are in the month of May already!  We've been enjoying some fabulous weather, and for a special event....today it's time for the next blog hop at Just Inklined.  Don't forget to leave your comments along the way for your chance to win one of the hidden spot prizes!

I've chosen to play with another image from the Best of Just Inklined 2012 CD, which as been aptly named Sailing.  I've paired it up with some papers from my scrapbooking stash, keeping it clean and simple as befits the masculine theme.

Your travels will now take you to Gaynor's blog, where you are sure to find something to please the eye!  Have yourselves a fun browse and a wonderful day.

Shaped Cards at Charisma

Good morning!  What beautiful weather we've been having...lovely sunshine and warm temperatures, and today I'm hoping to get out in the gardens for a while.  The income taxes are done, my accounting work is up to date, and yesterday my brother came over and finished raking up gravel .  Thanks to all the snow we had this year, a lot of my driveway ended up plowed into my grass.

Today, there's a new challenge at Charisma, and this time we are looking for shaped cards.  We hope you can find some crafting time and join in, but be sure to check out all of the talented DT cards first if you would like some inspiration.

My daughter cut this card blank for me, as I've not invested in the larger dies and machine yet...but the rest is all mine!  As you can see I have stamped a simple floral, adding liquid pearls for the centres and toning down the bright turquoise with distress ink.

For the large background circle, I stamped with clear embossing ink and then sponged over this with brown Pan Pastels.  This was a first for me and it worked like a charm, and I really like the soft muted result for the pattern.

The image...titled Chin Up Buttercup is from one of our sponsors, and another first for me....I coloured on Kraft paper!  I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be.  I coloured with my pencils this time, blending with just a dry paper stump.  It's always nice to try something new, and even better when it actually works!

So now for our sponsors, sharing some lovely prizes with some lucky winners.

1st - 3 digi's,
