It's cold outside....

One last Christmas card, this one with a winter theme.  Time to snuggle up!

Here I've used markers and a sweet image by 'From the Heart Stamps'.  I can't say I've seen any birds lately...hopefully they are snuggled up somewhere warm.  I made the background using an evergreen stamp and few little peel-off bits.  Perfect for a last minute card.

Wishing you all a healthy and happy New Year.  Take care, and stay warm.

Capture the Moment...

A card today, using the Time for Tea image -  Sk8R Ronny.  I'm posting this from my iPad while on holiday, so not too many particulars.  The image is coloured with markers and I've cut it out using the 'out of the box' technique.  A Spellbinder's die was used to make the backdrop, and washi tape provides some added interest.  A couple of sentiments give it the final finish.

Pizza overload...

It may be Thanksgiving, and traditionally the meal is turkey....but I'm sure some will be going for pizza.  This fun image is from Dr Digi's House of Stamps, titled Fast Food Frankie.  Hopefully he's having a party, and not eating all these pizzas himself.

Coloured with markers and a bit of pencil, I've added a bit of background to the image.  The card itself is really CAS, using one piece of DP and some washi tape.  Nice to know that washi tape does wonders to a bit of paper candi too!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely Thanksgiving weekend. (here in Canada)

Furry Friends with TTPH

Good morning all!  Time for another challenge at Through the Purple Haze...are you ready?  This time the theme is 'Furry Friends', and you have 2 weeks to submit your creation.

My card this week uses the delightful Sleeping Kitten image, provided by our lovely sponsor.  I've used markers to colour in those gorgeous flowers while leaving the kitten mostly white.

The DP is from the Prima Fairy Flora collection, and I've added accents of black and white for both die cuts and embellishments.

The two dies used are the Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight and Decorative Curved Square.

So looking forward to seeing what you an come up with, this time around!

Mellow in yellow...

Hi everyone.  I thought a card with some nice summer flowers would be in order, especially as my own garden is doing so poorly.  The intense heat has been never ending, and Mother Nature has been very lax in her watering.  I'm already starting to cut back the plants, as they are pretty much done.  Here in Canada we are used to having some hot and humid days over the summer, but not like this, where it lasts for the entire summer.  Is this global warming???

Now this is my idea of what summer should be like.  The image is from Connie Fong, and I've coloured her with markers in my favourite colour...Yellow.  I chose to use a white card blank, with die cuts from a floral paper...looks nice and cool to me!!  A few gemstones, a bit of paper candi and a bow, all in blue, complement the paper and image.

Supplies used:
Digi image - Spring Flowers by Connie Fong
Wild Rose Studio - Annabell's Garden paper pad
Spellbinders - Floral Ovals die and Imperial Gold Corners die

So I'm staying inside today, where it's nice and cool.  Take care everyone.

Christmas in July.....

It's unbelievable how hot and dry this summer has been, and it has only just begun!  Even the weeds are wilting....and the grass is burnt up and yellow.  So thankful for air conditioning!  I think it's time for a Christmas card....

Here we go with something nice and easy for a summer make, to maybe cool things down.   A lovely Christmas image stamped in green with added copic colouring.  Some pretty DP and some gold peel offs for a bit of trimmings.  A simple make and quite festive, I think I might make some more of these.

Supplies used:
Papers from MME - Merry Days of Christmas
Stampendous - Holly Points stamp
Spellbinders - Asian Motifs die
Gold peel of stickers

Thanks for stopping by...stay cool everyone, and share some rain please!!

Little Flower Fairy

Here's hoping you are all having a lovely weekend and perhaps enjoying some sunshine!  I'm hoping my cold will soon be gone, so things can get back to normal, whatever that is..., though I have found some time for crafting.  Perhaps I just need to go sit in the garden, and look for the fairies....

Today's card uses a delightful image from All Dressed Up...Little Flower Fairy.  Such fun to colour using an assortment of markers and pencils.

You will see I have used a liberal amount of distress ink here, edging the image and the strips of DP, as well as colouring the sentiment die and the butterflies.  I am quite pleased with the nice soft feminine look, and I've listed my supplies below.

Supplies used:
Basic Grey - Euphoria paper pad (quite old!)
Distress Ink - Seedless Preserves
Spellbinders - Labels Sixteen die (for the image)
Whimsy - Butterfly die (for the sentiment)
Memory Box - Madera Corner die (for the corner)

Rain drops....

Good morning everyone.  Of course we are all hoping for sunshine this Mother's Day weekend, here in Canada, but of course Mother Nature doesn't make promises.  This is another fun image from Dr Digi's House of Stamps...Rainy Raymond, somewhat appropriate for the spring season.

He's coloured with markers and cut out using the 'out of the box technique', a favourite of mine.  The sentiment is from the Verve Stamps Blue Skies collection.  The papers are from MME, and the only added extra is the strip of washi tape.  I think this makes for a nice encouragement card...something without flowers....for a man.

Have a great weekend everyone, and remember, we now have a fortnightly challenge on our FB page.  A chance to win, plus something to do if it does rain!

TTPH Anything Goes

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge at Through The Purple Haze, and this fortnight we have an Anything Goes theme!  I've been loving the weather...still cool, but great for working outside and enjoying the fresh air.  The grass is now green, and will soon need cutting, and soon I can get into the gardens.  Can't wait for all the colours of summer....but until then, a card with plenty of flowers.

Here, I have used the adorable Morgan Fitzsimons image..Fae 9.  Coloured with markers and pencils in lots of bright colours, reminiscent of spring and summer gardens.

Otherwise, a nice simple card using a DP from First Edition Summer Breeze collection and some brown card-stock.  The sentiment, from the Verve Stamps Blue Skies collection creates just the right mood for the image.

So once again, this fortnight's challenge is
Anything Goes

Puddle Play

Here's hoping that winter will soon be gone, and we can enjoy some of the pleasures of spring.  Otherwise, we'll be missing that season altogether.  I'd love to be outside readying the gardens, but that's not happening!  Still wearing my winter coat.  So here I have a card to remind us of warmer days.

This delightful image is one from Elizabeth Bell, titled Merry Weather....isn't she darling?  I've coloured her with copics, cutting and matting with the Spellbinders die - Scalloped Labels One.  As you can see, I have added some nice lush grass (I think I remember what that looks like..lol), and some DI to the edging.

The only embellishments are peel-offs...for the borders and the sentiment.  The card blank is one I have had for ages, already embossed, and more DI is sponged to make it it show.

Thank you all for stopping by, and here's hoping you have a warm sunny day.

CAS & Gold Embossing

The weather is definitely a mixed bag today...sunshine and snow flurries.  It is supposed to be spring, however, winter is not yet letting go.  On that note...how about a CAS Christmas card.

Something different for a change.  Red and white, with gold heat embossing for the sentiment.  Two stamps have been used...a Stämpelkällan corner stamp and Classic Greeting sentiment from Stampendous.  The red die cut uses the Spellbinders Floral Ovals die, and because I really couldn't just leave it at that....there are 4 little gem stones for embellishment.

Here's hoping winter will soon be on it's way.  Looking forward to flowers and green grass again!  Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great weekend.

Up, Up and Away

With spring just around the corner (we hope!), it gives rise to thoughts of fresh air and wide open spaces.   Hmmm, maybe not this wide open, but it looks like they are having fun!  My nephew is in college, learning to fly planes and is really enjoying the experience.

This is a page from my travel journal.  The stamp is from Art Impressions, coloured with water colours then fussy cut and adhered to some patterned DP from MME - Sky's the Limit collection.  I also tried adding some white hi-lights, but that didn't show too well...it didn't seem to work on the watercolour paper.  The sentiment is hand drawn.  Now I just need to plan some travel!

Here's trouble....

Good morning all, the weekend has arrived....and now the kids are on their March break.  I think this year we could even call it spring break....no flowers yet, but no snow either!  Just hope it stays!

This is my DT card for Dr Digi's House of Stamps, and the image...Player One, is quite fitting don't you think?  Playing video games is sure to be a favourite activity this week.  Just in case you haven't yet heard, Dr Digi now has a Facebook page and a bi-weekly challenge.  Be sure to check it out here.

After colouring, I've fussy cut the image, attaching with foam tabs to a die cut backing.  I've used only one DP, but in a few different ways, edging with one of the markers that I coloured the chair.  I hope you like the orange....I took a trip down memory lane.  It did so remind me of a set we had years back.  I'm always a fan of yellow, so the result is a nice sunny card.  No embellishments, just some doodled faux stitching and a stamped sentiment to finish it off.

Is it...or isn't it?

Sometimes you just want to say Hi, or give a little encouragement.  Today, my card for Dr Digi's House of Stamps, is using the Toolshed Ted image.  I'm sure he's been putting his gardens to bed for the winter (just like me!), but just wants to save this one little plant for his windowsill.  Of course, he looks a little puzzled....perhaps he's just trying to decide if it's really a plant, or just a weed.

As you can see, I've coloured and then fussy cut the image, before adhering with some foam squares, and this time I've framed him in the negative of a die cut.  This is the Spellbinders Labels Twenty die, and I've traced both inside and outside with brown pen.  I've used a Stämpelkällan stamp for the grasses, and a bit of sunshine for a nice outdoorsy feeling.  The doodling at the top of the card is actually made with a stitching template.

We've been spoiled lately with some lovely sunshine and mild temperature, but it does look like that is coming to an end.  I guess that will mean more time for crafting, no?

Take care everyone, and thanks for stopping by.

Happy Holidays

Well, I made it down to my craft room, but I'm not really there yet with much motivation.  As I have a number of stamps and images coloured up, I think perhaps I'll try to make them into cards.  Hopefully Mr Mojo will be along soon!  Perhaps he will pick up those buttons that I spilled on the floor.....not allowed to bend yet.  I see a potential for a big mess!!

Here I have used water colours to colour this Simply Sassy stamp from Funky Kits.  The papers were from my leftover bits, and just a little bow for embellishment.  Christmas colours of red and green, with some gold metallic marker to provide the edging, and its all ready to go.  Won't be long now, until the holiday season is here, as fall is definitely upon us.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your day!

Beautiful dreamer....

Hello everyone!  It's about time I did another posting, and it is far too hot and muggy to be outside.  Thank goodness for air conditioning.  I've added another page to my travel journal today, and if I see something like this on my travels I'll be sure to let you know.

Remember now, too much sun or alcohol can make you do strange things!  ha ha.   This delightful image is from Make it Crafty, and once again, I've coloured with copics.

I've gone with the 'out of the box technique' to cut him out, and some stenciling for the background.  Just a bit of washi tape and a few sticky dots to dress it up.

Hopefully by this time next year I will be up and about and ready to travel again....and make use of this journal.

Enjoy the summer while you can, after all...we know winter will be here soon enough.

On his way again....

Another page for my travel journal....this time with the image A Dunderton Abroad, another fabulous image from Dr Digi's House of Stamps.  This fellow sure knows how to travel light....just one small carry on bag, and he's ready to go on a moments notice.  Can't forget the shades though, the better to watch all the eye candy on the beach, and to stay incognito!

I planned to finish this one while on my vacation, but life got in the way.  All papers and words are from Theresa Collins Time Away collection.  I've added a couple of different types of faux stitching and two little metal brad thingies.  I've coloured the image with copics, but I have added glossy accents to his shades...such a cool dude!

Let's hope the bitter cold of February is done with.  We've really been enjoying the weather this week...lots of sunshine and milder temps.  The snow is starting to disappear, but it has a long way to go.

Thanks for stopping by.

Little Sweetie

Only two more months of winter..(I'm dreaming, of course!), then spring, then summer, then fall, then it will soon be Christmas....ha ha!  Well, at least I've started on my cards!

Today's card is for the Outlawz Freebie Progressive Challenge, using the sweet image that was provided this month from All Dressed Up.  She looked so dainty, I chose to colour her in soft pastels.  Copics were my medium, with a bit of fancy cutting and a lacy oval die-cut in behind.  The papers are from my stash, and you can see I've used some green glitter paper for embellishment, making use of a couple of my punches.

There goes the diet....

Well, it won't be long now, and we'll be dressing in our Christmas outfits and eating plum pudding....no?  Hmmm maybe we are missing something.  Here I have another fun image from Dr Digi's House of Stamps, titled Christmas Chris.   He looks like he's enjoying himself!

This card is a really simple design, as it is for my Dad who is still in the hospital....22 weeks and counting.  He has Alzheimer's and is waiting for a placement in a nursing home.  I try to take him a card each visit, but I have to make sure there are no removable parts.  So, just some papers, a peel-off border, and the image which I have coloured with copics.

Hoping all is well with you and yours, and you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Hanging with Friends

Good morning all!  'Tis the weekend again, and time is passing so quickly.  I'm hoping to get a bit of shopping in today, with better luck than I had in the week, though I did finally get a new cell phone.  I really don't have any ideas for gifts this year, and seem to walk into a store and then walk out....without seeing anything that strikes my fancy.  Anybody else having this problem, or is it just me.  Well at least I'm getting there with my Christmas cards.

Here, I have used one of Sassy Cheryl's images (Hanging with Friends), and to speed things up a bit, this one was pre-coloured.  This is a first for me....I added some glossy accents to his nose and some stickles to the birds, and did a bit of fussy cutting around his boots.  A pretty backing made with a Spellbinders die, some gold peel-offs for a bit of added glam, and then a stamped sentiment to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by, and good luck in your weekend endeavours....especially if you are out in the stores!
