Waiting on some better weather...

I'm back!  Here's hoping you are all faring well.  Here in Ontario, Canada we are still in recovery mode from some nasty winter weather.  Many power outages, downed trees, treacherous roads, and heaven forbid....no internet!  Don't mind me, but I had to find a bit of humour in it all.

So getting back into the swing of things, I'm going with a fresh summer image with absolutely no snow in it!

Here, I've used another lovely image from Just Inklined....Thatched cottage, which brings to mind my holidays last year in England.  In case you are wondering, the weather there was very good with very little rain!

Colouring is done with copics and spectrum noir markers, as I found a set of these just before Christmas.  I've stayed with a nice simple design to let the image take centre stage.

I would like to wish you all good health and happiness for the New Year, and thank you for your visits and kind comments.  Perhaps I could also wish for you, and me, a nice early spring.....

Some challenges for my card:

My bit of Christmas for the Just Inklined DT

Merry Christmas everyone!  This week at Just Inklined, the DT members are showcasing their favourite Christmas cards.  This one is mine, using the fabulous image, Christmas Boot (Lady).

In addition, as a special thank you to our supporters, each of us will be giving away a copy of the image used to 2 lucky commenters.  Could this be your lucky day?

Last minute gift holders

I think I am running a bit behind this year!  Not so much with the shopping, but with the presentation.  I've bought a number of tickets over the internet, but when the gift is just a piece of paper.....something else is definitely needed.  I've made four, so far, and still need to come up with three more.  In copying the same design, thankfully they are not taking too long.

Here I've used some toppers from Crafter's Companion, that came on a CD with the Digital Crafting magazine that I purchased.  Perfect for some quick makes when needed.  For a change, I took the photos among my Christmas village, which I also set up today.

These were basically made with a half sheet of OLD scrapbook paper, folded and lined with a complementing paper.  The bottom edge is also folded and fastened with double sided tape.

Each one is different, but basically the same concept.  One of them has some ribbon, others have pearls or gemstones, some use peel-offs, and for some I've used punches.  The paper folds and tucks in behind nice and neat.  If you have any questions, just drop me a line in the comments.

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you are a little better organized than me!  Take care, and all the best for the holidays!

Last minute cards..

Greetings everyone, and hopefully you are almost ready for Christmas.  We have an Anything Goes challenge today over at Charisma, and you will have an extra week to enter your projects.  We know it is a very busy time of the year, but hopefully you will get a wee bit of time to yourself for some crafting.

I have another Christmas card, but this time it is more along the CAS line.  I made a couple of these, for those last minute posts.  Nice and simple using a stamp from a local supplier (Under Construction).  I heat embossed the image with copper embossing powder, adding copics and DI for the colour.  Only cardstock layers, a doodled border and a poinsettia flower to finish it off.

Our very generous sponsors this time around are:

Wrapping it up...

Now it's time to start some wrapping, and a few personalized gift bags are needed.  I like giving these to family, as I know they will be reused.  It's nice when these can be passed on for use in future years.

These small bags can be found at most craft stores or dollar stores, and I find they are of stronger material than the printed ones.  The carrying handles are also better attached.  I only decorate the one side, and it folds back up neatly for storage.

Here I've used some papers from my travels, and a delightful Christmas image which I have coloured with copics.  Some gold paper candi, a sparkly gold bow, gold peel-off borders and some gold glitter in the holes of the punched borders gives it quite a festive look.  A little bit of stamping on the lower half adds a touch more interest to the DP.

Supplies used:
Lacy Sunshine image - Sleepy Holiday Fred Gnome
Papers from Dovecraft - 'Tis the Season collection
Stamp from Sweet Stamps - Holly Branches
Spellbinders die - Labels 22
MS punch - 3 Dot PATP

Keep in mind, this concept could also be used to recycle a department store gift bag, by covering up their logo.  Thanks for your visit once again, and good luck in your wrapping too!

Some fun challenges for my gift bag:

Let's chase away the cold....

Greetings!  We've been in the deep freeze here in Ontario, with cold temperatures and a really nasty wind chill.  So enough with the winter cards....here's one for summer!

How about some beautiful Sunflowers to brighten your day?  This is an older image from Just Inklined....another one of their lovely floral images.  So helpful to remind us that summer will come again!

Once again, copics are my colouring medium, and I've gone for what I call a clean and simple design.  The only thing really different here is the round frame, where I played with some embossing and inca gold for a bit of a rustic look.

Other supplies used:
Bo Bunny paper - Serenade collection
EK Success - corner punch
other - peel-off borders

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Take care and stay warm!

Candycanes and Smiles

One more card, ready to post!   I enjoy making the cards, but can't say I like venturing out into the cold to mail them.  Somehow, with the cold weather we've been having, it seems like it should be February.  Thankfully, we still have Christmas to look forward to, but after that.....I think it is going to be a long winter.

My card today uses the adorable Candy Elf image from Make it Crafty.  Isn't she a sweetie with that lovely smile.  Coloured with copics and a bit of pencil, it gives you lots of opportunity to use some nice bright colours.  I've kept the card very simple, for mailing, and except for the bow...all embellishments are stickers of some kind or other.

Other supplies used:
Papers from MME - Merry Days of Christmas collection
Spellbinders die - Floral Ovals

My Christmas tree should be going up this weekend, with a little lot of help and a ladder.  That will make it one more step closer to being ready for Christmas.  Hopefully, you too are nearly ready and not getting too stressed out!

Thanks for stopping by, and here are some challenges for my card:

Make it Colourful - #4 Red and Green

I can explain....

Greetings everyone.  My goodness but it's cold outside.....no global warming around here today!  I'm still working on a few last minute Christmas cards, but at least I can do that inside where it's warm and cozy.  So here I go with another, using some nice warm reds and then some greens for the traditional look.

How about this adorable image from Make it Crafty, titled Gnomey Peter.  Isn't he something, and perfect for a male recipient?  Coloured with copics, a bit of pencil and some DI's I do like his admonishing pose.   The papers are some oldies from the Basic Grey, Eskimo Kisses line, mostly green with just a bit of red and white to complement the image.

I've even played along with the Make it Crafty FB Sketch challenge....sort of.  You will note, I have made a few changes, but if you look really hard .....well at least all of the elements are still there, though I did change the shapes.  I wanted to stay with the masculine theme, even with the bow.

Other than that, a couple of sparkly snowflakes, a bit of greenery and a few added pearls to finish it off.

Thanks so much for visiting, and here are some fun challenges for my card:

Make it Crafty FB Challenge - #4 Sketch
Make it Colourful - #4 Red and Green

Oh, for a little breath of spring

The winds are howling as I write this, and I don't want to even look outside, never mind go outside.  It could be snowing, but if it is....I don't want to know!  Too bad it is only December.

So how about a change today, with something to remind us of the better weather ahead.  My card today uses the Farm Gate image from Just Inklined.  Easy to colour and suitable for so many occasions, I've paired it up with some nice soft colours...I'm definitely thinking spring!

Supplies used:
Papers from Paper Mania - Burleigh Blue collection
Cheery Lynn die - City Girl Edger
Sentiment stamp from Printworks
Other - peel-offs, ribbons and gems.

Hope you are all keeping well.  Thanks for stopping by again, and make sure you stay warm!

Frosty Sparkle

Greetings everyone, this fine Saturday!  I went up to my daughter's yesterday, and today we headed out to the shops in Peterborough.  Brrr it was cold, but I did find a few bits....for me!  I guess Santa came early this year.

Here's my card for today, again for one of the Bugaboo Holiday Chaos Challenge.  This time for the Saturday Anything Goes.  I did try to set it up with my iPad, but I really had problems trying to attach the picture.  I think I need a little more practice.

How about all of that glitter!  Sure to brighten the day.  Here, I've layered with glitter card, adding a glitter flourish and some gems.  A snowflake border and another Bugaboo image...this time the image is titled 4 Square Snowman, so nice and easy to colour!

Some other fun challenges for my card:

He lost the GPS......?!!

What a beautiful mild day it was today.  Nearly all the snow has gone....almost feels like spring!  Ha ha....but a girl can dream.   I still need a few Christmas cards, so I thought I would try to get a few Bugaboo images coloured up for their Holiday Chaos challenges.  (see link below).  There's no way I can do all seven, as I left it too late, but I can have a bit of fun trying.

This one is for Wednesday's Ugly Sweater challenge with a recipe of 'Red, Blue & Cream + Reindeer'.  I think I liked the crazy title, and I'd been waiting to use this image.  I do think the reindeer look a bit lost, and it brings to mind a real event.  We were lucky, in that we did find the lost GPS, but of course that was only after purchasing another one!

Trying for something a bit different....I cut a circle out of two corners of the top paper, and stamped all over it with a pine branch stamp. Embellishments are really light, as it does have to go in the post.

Supplies used:
Bugaboo image - Reindeer Trio
Crate Paper - Snow Day collection
Darcie's Stamps for the pine branch stamp

Thanks for visiting, and hopefully I brought you a smile.

Some other challenges for my card:

Charisma Distressed Challenge

Tis the 5th of December....only 20 more days!  Wow!  I'm sure some of you are on top of things and all ready for the big day....I'm not in that number!  I'm thinking that I might best start a list....checking it twice...or more.

I'm just about finished with my Christmas cards, only to find that I needed a few more, so here goes with another one.  This is my DT card for this week's challenge at Charisma Cardz, where the theme is DISTRESSED

Lots of distress ink on this one, and I've even torn the papers.  Quite the vintage feel, especially when you take the photo in the evening without natural lighting.  I had a play with my copics and a sponsor's image, cutting and then matting with a couple of die cuts.  Although the papers are rather muted, I used a bright turquoise for the image and embellishments.  Something just a little bit different.

Supplies used:
Time for Tea image - Catching Snowflakes
Papers from Melissa Frances - Home for the Holidays collection
Spellbinders die - Inverted Scalloped Circles
Cheery Lynn die - Ankara Lace

Once again, we have some wonderful sponsors, and if you click on the images below you can check out their products.

Mmmmm...yes please!

Hello again.  Here I am with another of those little gift bags, using an inexpensive brown paper bag.  You can never have too many of these...and they can be re-gifted and used again.

For today's project I've used an image from The Paper Shelter (A Penguin In My Cocoa), and a sentiment stamp from Inkadinkado (Winter Trails).  I've again coloured with copics, adding a bit of glitter to the ribbon.  The sentiment has been heat embossed with gold embossing powder, and as you will notice, then edged with DI.

The image is cut out with the Spellbinders Labels Eighteen and attached with foam tabs, positioned so that the top of the bag tucks in behind for closing.  Nice and easy!

The DP is an older one from the Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses line...a nice simple pattern to complement the busy image.  The red ribbon and added greenery gives just a bit of decoration to complete the festive look.

Hope you enjoyed your visit and can take away a few ideas.  Have a great day!

Lavender and Lace Blog Hop

Good morning fellow bloggers!  It's that time again, for another exciting blog hop at Just Inklined.  This month, Gaynor is our talented hostess, with the challenge theme....Lavender and Lace.  So we are in for a bit of a change from the traditional colours for this time of year, as the DT share their lovely creations.  Be sure to follow along, leaving comments along the way, for your chance to win one of the spotlight prizes of a free image.  Here is the blog order...just in case you go astray.

Gaynor, Karen J., Dawn, Tammy, Jak, Lori, Karen L., Joyce (that's me)

This sweet image is titled Batchelors Button, and was a dream to colour with a combo of pencils and markers and a touch of added sparkle.  As you may notice, I've cut it out with a circle die and the 'Out of the box' technique.  I find these floral images are very well suited to Sympathy/Thinking of You cards, and of course they fit perfectly into a lacy theme.

Supplies used:
Prima Paper from the Fairy Flora collection
Cheery Lynn die - Ankara Lace
Sentiment from CC Designs - Elegant Greetings
Other items - lace, gems, bow, stickles

I do hope you enjoyed your visit, and all the other hops along the way.  Have yourselves a lovely day!

A little Christmas Angel gift bag

Good morning, on this nice, bright.....cold winter's day!  I was really hoping the snow would melt away, but that hasn't happened.  I will have to venture out today...still have to clean off the car even!  Oh well, spring is only four months away?  And of course, first we have Christmas!

Gone are the days when I used to make most of my Christmas gifts, but it's still nice to give a special homemade card or wrapping.  Here is another gift bag, this one a little simpler as only the front is decorated.  The bag is cut down in size and then the top is folded over.  It then tucks behind the the matted image that is attached to the front of the bag with foam tabs.  This makes for a nice simple closure.

The image has been coloured with copics, and I've added glitter to her wings.  White paint softens the edges of the cardstock, while DI provides a bit more definition to the edges of the DP.  I've also added some stickles and gems to the die cuts, but they don't show up too well in the photo.

Supplies used:
Wags and Whiskers image - Say a Prayer digi
MME Paper - 'Tis the Season collection
Memory Box dies - Madera Corner and Frosty Border

Now I just need to do some shopping to fill this little bag.  Wish me luck!  Thanks for stopping by, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

A Magnolia gift bag

Greetings...on this cold winter's day.  At least the winds have died down, and so far...no snow!  I have to go out today, though I would prefer to hibernate, and perhaps I'll have a peek in the local stores.  I really do need to get cracking on some Christmas shopping.  Hopefully I will find some wonderful ideas when I go to the One of a Kind Show this weekend with my daughters.

For now though, I do have my Mom's gift purchased and I needed something special to wrap it in.  So what better than a brown paper bag...with a few trimmings.  I find these come in very handy, and can be re-gifted in future years.

This is the front, and you lift the framed image up to open.  The paper bag is cut to the desired size, and then a folded topper is made, to be attached to the finished back.

This is the finished back.

Here is a close up of the image, coloured with copics and trimmed with some glitter.

These are quite fun to make and are well received by the recipients....something a little different.

Supplied used:
Magnolia stamp - Secret Tilda
Basic Grey papers - Eskimo Kisses collection
Stampendous sentiment stamp - Hugs for All
 Spellbinders die - Labels Eight
Glitter paper, snowflake stickers, gems and bow - all from my stash

I realized as I put that list together, I've had nearly all that product for ages...it could almost be vintage! (lol)  Thanks for visiting, and here's hoping you have a wonderful day.
