A walk in the park...

Good morning fellow bloggers.  I have another card for you today for our new challenge at Paper Crafting Journey.  This week the theme is Emboss That!, and my card uses an image provided by our lovely sponsor, Sassy Studio Designs.

I finally figured out how to colour the hair to make it look wavy, and I'm quite pleased with the results.  With luck I will remember how to do it for next time!  Once again, I have made use of my copics, and also a background image.  My goal is to use some of those stamps or tools that seem to not get used much....you know what I mean....

For my embossing, I pulled out a little-used die, and then used my score board to add a border.  Some DI to to highlight and little bit of stamping to finish it off.

Supplies used:
Sassy Studio image - Carrie Sassy
Make It Crafty background image - Grass
Verve Stamps sentiment - Birthday Surprise
Paper from GCD Studios - Ella Blue collection
Marianne's die - Anja Edge

Thanks for stopping by today, and hopefully you can find the time to enter our challenge for your chance to win.  Our sponsor
http://buysassystudiodesigns.blogspot.ca/
is offering 4 digi's of the winners choice!

For the new Great Grandparents

Good morning everyone.  I'm supposed to be heading out to meet my parents today, but that might have to wait until tomorrow, again due to the weather.  It's always either snowing or blowing with unbelievable wind chills, so I haven't seen them since December.

Yesterday, the sun actually shone and we had a balmy (hah) -8C, or -17C with the wind chill.  Thankfully, the neighbours plowed my drive again, and I actually ventured out.  One does have to go for groceries sometimes, and the mail....after all, there could be crafty bits there!

When someone becomes a Great Grandparent for the first time it is exciting, but it can be a little disconcerting too.  After all, one never thinks of themselves as getting older...do they, but that new title.....yikes!

So I thought it was a good excuse to send a card, and I'm sure this pretty image will bring a smile.

Supplies used:
Image from Lacy Sunshine - Willow
Corner stamp from Stämpelkällan
Paper from American Crafts - Enchanted
Spellbinders die - Floral Ovals
other - paper candi, ribbon and peel-offs

My colour fix...

Greetings again.  Can you tell that I'm starving for colour...tired of looking outside at white and shades of grey.  What would I do without my copics and paints and pencils, and all those wonderful colours?

Today I have another DT card for Just Inklined, with a beautiful image titled Cherry Blossom.  Doesn't it just speak to you of spring?  I've gone with nice soft colours, using markers and pencil, and then distress inks after masking the image.

Just some simple ribbon detail and a couple of matching buttons for a nice light touch, leaving the image to be the centre of attraction.

I hope you enjoyed your visit, and perhaps I brought a spot of colour to your day too!

To Cheer You..

Good morning everyone!  I am really pleased to announce that I am now part of the design team for Paper Crafting Journey!   Theirs is a bi-weekly challenge, and you will find my entries every second week.  So, for the challenge this fortnight we have a Vintage/Distressed/Shabby Chic theme....lots of choices there!

Have a look at some of the wonderful creations from the DT to jump-start your creativity, and give it a go.  Hopefully we'll be seeing your entry too!

We have two generous sponsors this week with some lovely prizes...Digital Delights and Digi Stamp 4 Joy.  This lovely image is from one of our sponsors, and can be found here.  Isn't she a sweetie...and those bright spring flowers should cheer anyone up!  I've coloured with copics and sponged with DI, after cutting her out with my new Spellbinder's die...Scalloped Labels One.

The papers are from an old Pinkpaislee collection...Queen Bee, and I've distressed the edges with my scissors and some more DI.  Even the fancy die cut matting is done with this paper, using the Joy Crafts...Lacey Square Frame die.

A pretty butterfly and a few gems add the finishing touches, and then it was ready for the mail.  Someone I know is in need of some cheer right now, and it's not just because of the weather!

Thanks for visiting, and be sure to stay warm and safe.

A Breath of Spring....

I'm thinking that Mother Nature and Old Man Winter are getting far too chummy!   We are into another bitter cold snap and brrrrrr it's cold.  This winter seems to be never ending, and I think my memory is slipping....what does green grass look like again?  I am so sick of looking at snow and ice!

So, as a reminder to myself that flowers do grow here and little girls will be wearing pretty summer dresses again....I've had a play with this adorable image from All Dressed Up.  Lots of pink and other pastel colours to brighten the day!  (If those of you in Australia could send some heat this way...it would be much appreciated!)

Supplies used:
All Dressed Up image - I Love my Puppy
Papers from MME - Fine and Dandy Girl collection
Spellbinders die - Fleur de Lis Rectangles

Thanks again for visiting, and listening to me complain about the weather.  But really, I don't remember a winter as bad as this!

Dreaming of a Little Red Sports Car...

Good morning!  It's Saturday again, which means another week of winter has come and gone...how's that for a positive spin on the weather.  We're in a bit of a stalemate at the moment, where it hasn't got any worse, but it hasn't got any better.  I keep an ear on the forecast, an visual through my window, and a lot of time in the house.  Thankfully Mr Mojo seems to be sticking around for company!

Now, whether it's the nice red sports car, the idea of a wedding, or those noisy tin cans....this image should really perk you up.  I've coloured with copics again, and this time it's the adorable Just Married image from Just Inklined.

A very simple card design, making use of a couple of Spellbinders dies, a bow and an embossed card.  Lots of blue distress inks for the different layers, and a few glitter pens for the borders.

Now for some challenges for my card...be sure to check them out too!   Thanks for stopping by.

A Monochrome Christmas card

Good morning folks.  Now, I do realize Christmas is over, but winter definitely isn't.  It looks like our bit of milder weather is done with, and therefore my ice is here to stay.  Although our temps will be staying below freezing, hopefully we won't go back into a real deep freeze.  I've heard that in England the gardens are rather lush as a result of all the rain....but very soggy.  There's nothing lush or soggy out of my window....just ice and snow with a few dark bare patches.   And then, Australia is in a heat wave.  Too bad we can't climate share!

This was the last Christmas card I made for the season, and I used the Collage Merry Christmas stamp from Hero Arts.  I've stamped then heat embossed with gold embossing powder, then further dressed it up with distress ink.

The papers are from the MME Lost & Found Christmas collection, and I've added various gold accents with peel-off borders and stars, metallic pen and pearls.  The die cut snowflake also has some gold accents along with a glitter filled centre.  Lots of sparkle and shine!

Take care everyone, and if you could shoo some warm breezes this way, it would be much appreciated!  I'm heading to the stores shortly, to buy more salt.  I have to be prepared, but it sure would be nice if it wasn't needed!  (Update - no salt is available for purchase!!!)  Thanks again for visiting.

Wistful Thinking...

Hi everyone!  Another card with a spring/summer theme today....I'm still working on the positive thinking.  We've been having some milder days and the ice is trying to melt, but it gets colder again at night and freezes up again.  At least there has been no further accumulation....yay!  Can't wait to see green grass and pretty flowers again.

I finally got around to colouring up this image from Saturated Canary.  The image is coloured with copics, but for the sky I have used pan pastels.  No DP this time, just an embossed layer which I have inked with some DI.  A number of gold peel-offs add a bit of sparkle....for the border, the sentiment and the butterfly.  Just a pretty handmade bow and a few gems to finish it off.

Now I'm ready for this kind of weather....how about you?   Thanks for dropping by, and be sure to check out some of the challenges that I'll be entering.

Messing with your eyes....

Good news..it's raining!  That means that the temperature has risen to slightly above freezing and we aren't getting more snow and freezing rain.  It's also melting some of the ice...so with luck I may be able to get my basement door open again.  One could almost pretend it's spring...ha ha ha, compared to the weather of the last 3 weeks anyway.

I have a couple of family birthdays coming up and need a few masculine cards, so here goes one of them.  The image, titled Throwback Fred, is from Just Inklined.  Nice and easy to colour up and perfect for one of those 'cool dudes'.

So how are your eyes?  I find mine go a bit screwy whenever I look at this card.  I wanted to do something different, and it is...ha ha.   I've used my new Spellbinders Classic Squares die to cut out the image and layer him up, at an angle no less.  Then, I've followed that angle with borders made of washi tape.  So really, it's okay, it's not a problem with your eyes!

Thanks again for your visit, and be sure to check out some of the challenges that I have entered too.

Time Shared

Looks like Mother Nature will be giving us a wee break this weekend...temperatures should rise to just above freezing.  With luck, some of my ice will melt, and with more luck....perhaps we won't get another dumping of snow or freezing rain!  I really believe in sharing, and would love to send our winter weather to someone who thinks they would like to experience it.  Too bad it doesn't work that way.

So, back to the real world and my attempt to think nice spring thoughts with a card.  Today I've coloured up a LOTV image, titled Times to Treasure.  It's one of those images that could be used for many occasions, maybe even Valentine's Day.  Coloured with copics, it's matted with one of the awesome dies from Cheery Lyn...Ankara Lace.  A few pearls, a bit of ribbon, a flower and an embossed backing paper and I'm done.  I think I feel warmer already!  lol

Take care now, stay warm and think spring!

New baby...in the making

Hello out there!  Our weather outside is frightful.....cold, windy, with multiple layers of snow and ice to make walking treacherous.  The forecast isn't looking too hopeful either, so I'm thinking I should just hibernate until spring.  There is lots of chocolate and wine in house, thanks to Christmas, so I should be good...lol!

We've just got the news that my nephew and his new wife are expecting a baby girl, so a baby card it is.  Luckily it won't be born until May, and hopefully winter will be over by then!

Here, I've used one of my new card blanks that I picked up on my travels, as they are not available here.  A nice simple design, using a sweet image from Meljen's (Cuddle Cloud Baby).  I've added distress ink to the edges of the card. a bit of border with some sparkle pen, and then some background stamp in the same DI.  Just a bow, some peel-off stars, and a couple of gems for embellishment and I'm done.

Thanks for visiting me here in my cave craft room....  Take care and think spring!

Take a break from winter...

Greetings everyone.  Does anyone still like winter?  We have another storm coming in...right now it's just the winds, but more snow is on it's way....oh joy!  Needless to say, global warming doesn't include warmer winters!  So how can we kick-start spring?  I thought I would give it a go with a summer themed card....

This is another image from Just Inklined, titled Seaside Connor Crabbing.  Once again, I've used the 'out of the box technique' to cut the image, after colouring with copics.  On the card itself, I've expanded on the theme with some stenciled waves and stamped fish.  Then some washi tape for added interest and clear circle stickers and a bit of doodling for some water droplets or bubbles.

Other stamps I have used:
Inkadinkado - Butterfly
Daisy & Dandelion - Gone fishing

Now doesn't this make you feel warmer.....well, perhaps if you jack the heat up some!  lol.  One thing's for certain...we definitely have something to look forward to!  Warmer weather!!!

Thanks for stopping by, and stay safe and warm!
