A little Christmas Angel gift bag

Good morning, on this nice, bright.....cold winter's day!  I was really hoping the snow would melt away, but that hasn't happened.  I will have to venture out today...still have to clean off the car even!  Oh well, spring is only four months away?  And of course, first we have Christmas!

Gone are the days when I used to make most of my Christmas gifts, but it's still nice to give a special homemade card or wrapping.  Here is another gift bag, this one a little simpler as only the front is decorated.  The bag is cut down in size and then the top is folded over.  It then tucks behind the the matted image that is attached to the front of the bag with foam tabs.  This makes for a nice simple closure.

The image has been coloured with copics, and I've added glitter to her wings.  White paint softens the edges of the cardstock, while DI provides a bit more definition to the edges of the DP.  I've also added some stickles and gems to the die cuts, but they don't show up too well in the photo.

Supplies used:
Wags and Whiskers image - Say a Prayer digi
MME Paper - 'Tis the Season collection
Memory Box dies - Madera Corner and Frosty Border

Now I just need to do some shopping to fill this little bag.  Wish me luck!  Thanks for stopping by, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

A Magnolia gift bag

Greetings...on this cold winter's day.  At least the winds have died down, and so far...no snow!  I have to go out today, though I would prefer to hibernate, and perhaps I'll have a peek in the local stores.  I really do need to get cracking on some Christmas shopping.  Hopefully I will find some wonderful ideas when I go to the One of a Kind Show this weekend with my daughters.

For now though, I do have my Mom's gift purchased and I needed something special to wrap it in.  So what better than a brown paper bag...with a few trimmings.  I find these come in very handy, and can be re-gifted in future years.

This is the front, and you lift the framed image up to open.  The paper bag is cut to the desired size, and then a folded topper is made, to be attached to the finished back.

This is the finished back.

Here is a close up of the image, coloured with copics and trimmed with some glitter.

These are quite fun to make and are well received by the recipients....something a little different.

Supplied used:
Magnolia stamp - Secret Tilda
Basic Grey papers - Eskimo Kisses collection
Stampendous sentiment stamp - Hugs for All
 Spellbinders die - Labels Eight
Glitter paper, snowflake stickers, gems and bow - all from my stash

I realized as I put that list together, I've had nearly all that product for ages...it could almost be vintage! (lol)  Thanks for visiting, and here's hoping you have a wonderful day.

Snuggle time

Good morning everyone!  If you're finding it hard to get out of bed on these cold dark mornings, here's something you could do.  Of course, breakfast in bed would be nice too! lol

Something a little different, and not a Christmas embellishment in sight.  This is my DT card for Just Inklined, and I've played with this adorable image titled Two Peas in iPod.  Nice and quick to colour up with my copics, then a bit of DI for the edging.

The papers are all leftovers from my stash, along with the ribbon and pearls.  Made use of two Spellbinders dies - Deckled Rectangles for the image, and Romantic Rectangles for the matting.  Very fitting, don't you think?

For those of you that are up and about, beware of the crowded shopping malls.  Just finding a parking spot will be a challenge in itself.  Take care and have a lovely day!

Ho Ho Ho

Good morning....hoping everyone is staying warm and cozy.  It's definitely cold outside, with a possibility of flurries for the weekend.  I remember when the prospect of snow was exciting....playing in the snow, perhaps a snow day where school was cancelled.  Now it means...do I really have to go out, and hopefully it doesn't stay long.  Heavens, I don't even need a weather forecast....the old bones give me a good idea of what's in store!

But of course winter means Christmas, and lots of excited little faces on the little ones.....something beautiful to look forward to!

Today I've made a card with lots of nice warm red!  The striped paper is a bit left over from another card and I decided to use it on the diagonal.  The tree was cut out on my silhouette, which I should try to use more often.  Those silver snowflakes are actually window stickers that I found at the dollar store...they work great for a little bit of sparkle.  The adorable little image was a freebie from Dustin Pike, from quite some time ago, coloured with copics and a bit of pencil.

So, one more card ready to be mailed, but that's another day.   Thanks for visiting!

Oh Christmas Tree

Today's going to be a day of rest for me, and I'll be putting my feet up.  Yesterday, I made dinner for my daughters and their families (11 of us)....a first for me since my husband passed away.  Everything went well, and it was a fine family get-together.  My timing was a bit off though, as I had to do a major deep clean of the house first, after the mess created with the renovations I was doing.  Phew, thank goodness that's done, for now anyway!

So how about a card, with one of the beautiful Just Inklined Christmas images from last year, titled Fir Balls.

The ornaments have been coloured with copics and trimmed with some gold stickles, and then I used green sparkle pen for the fir branch.  It's been cut out with the Spellbinder's Labels Twenty Two die, but trimmed down so that only one edge is shaped.  Lots of distress ink for a cool nighttime effect, and then some pretty papers from MME.  The sentiments are from Hero Arts - Holiday Sayings.

So that's one more ready to go, and I guess I should get busy at that soon....I'll have to try not to leave it to the last minute!  Thanks for stopping by, here's hoping you're having a wonderful weekend.

From the Heart

Brrrr but it's cold outside.   As I am writing this, the winds outside are howling and the furnace is going full tilt.  Here's hoping you are all keeping safe and warm.  Another week has disappeared, and today it's the start of another challenge at Charisma Cardz.  This time around, the theme is VINTAGE, and we are really hoping you can have a bit of fun and join us .

Here, I've had a play with one of our sponsor's sweet images, colouring it with copics, fussy cutting and then adhering with foam tabs.  A nice easy layout with some stamping, some lace and ribbon and a pretty sentiment.  The papers already had a distressed edging, but I added a wee bit more.

Supplies used:
Stamp Fairy image - Clementine 2
Basic Grey papers - Clippings collection
Whimsy stamps - sentiment and corresponding die
Ribbon from Sew Sweet.

Now for our wonderful sponsors for this challenge, and the prizes that you might win:

Seasonal Stripes

Good morning everyone!  I'm not sure where the week went, but it's Saturday again.  Looks like I'll be going out shopping with my daughter, a nice break from the gardening and home renovations that I've started.  That will still all be here when I get back!!  With any luck, I may get a few ideas for Christmas.  Let's just hope everyone else isn't doing the same....I can't stand the crowds!

On that note, how about another Christmas card!  Here, I've used another of the fabulous seasonal images from Just Inklined....Christmas Poinsettia.  I've steered away from the traditional red flower this time, colouring with copics and a bit of glitter pen. Thanks to the papers and trimmings, I thinking it has a vintage feel.

Other supplies used:
Papers from MME - Lost & Found Christmas
Spellbinders dies - Labels Twelve and Marvelous Squares
MS punch - Pine Branch
Other - distress ink, ribbon, washi tape, gold pearls and metallic pen

Here's wishing you all a wonderful weekend, and hopefully a bit of sunshine comes your way!

Let's Play Painting...

Amazing....I saw sunshine this morning!  It didn't last long though.  Soon it was raining again, and now it's grey and dreary.  Oh well, there's lots to be done inside too.  I intend to give a go at some sanding, if I can figure out how to work the sander.  A bit of floor needs some new finish....wish me luck!

First though, I'll post this card.  Today, I've used this cute Little Artist stamp by Sugar Nellie.  I painted with water-colours this time, something I try to do these days when I'm using inky stamps rather than digi's....I still have a problem with printer inks smudging.

I really like this Spellbinders die....adds some extra interest without being too feminine.  No ribbons, but a bit of washi tape and a bit of stamping in the corners to dress it up.  Add a sentiment and a bit of doodling, and I'm done.

Hope you enjoyed your visit, but now I had best get to work!

Favourite Colour - Blog Hop

Hello again!  It's now November, and time for another Blog Hop at Just Inklined.  I am the hostess this time around, so the hop starts with me....and I chose the theme of Favourite Colour.  I can't wait to see what everyone has made!

The blog hop order is as follows, and be sure to leave your comments along the way for your chance to win one of the 2 spot prizes.

Joyce (that's me), Gaynor, Karen J., Dawn, Tammy, Tangii, Jak, Lori, Karen L.

Now, because Christmas is on it's way, I've decided that my favourite colour today is Red....I have way more than one favourite, so it was a difficult choice.

I've tried for a bit of a vintage feel, with this gorgeous image titled Christmas Boot (lady).  Doesn't it look fantastic in red....makes you want to go out and buy a pair.  Alas, I think I had best settle for just the bottle of bubbly, as my vintage feet can't wear those heels anymore. (sigh)

I've used an oval die to cut out the image, and the Spellbinders Floral Oval die to make the mat.  Both have been treated to some Inca Gold paint, to make them more festive.  The pretty DP is from MME and the Holly Branch is from Sweet Stamps.  Just a few red pearls and a sentiment to finish it off.

Time to put your feet up now and continue along the hop...it's sure to be a treat!  Thanks for visiting, and good luck in the draw.

Hugs and Cuddles

Hi there everyone.  It's Saturday again, and another rainy day...but it could be worse.  At least the winds have died down, and there's no snow.  When we think of fall, we think of colourful leaves, but they do lose some of their appeal when they are all wet and skies are grey!   I'm still hoping for a couple of nice days where I can get out and do a clean up in my gardens.

My grandson, Lucas, had a birthday last week, and I thought this little guy was just the ticket.  This was a freebie image from Crissy Armstrong titled 'Best Buds', which is now available for purchase.  Such a sweet image...full of hugs and cuddles!

My colouring was done with copics and coloured pencils, but the shirt has been paper pieced.  It just had to be plaid, don't you think?  Puppy is the same colouring as his dog Farley, though Farley is much much bigger.

Really liked this DP from Basic Grey, perfect colours for a fall card.  Used the Spellbinders Labels Twelve die to cut out the image, and metal brads to attach it.

Hope you enjoyed your visit, and you will have a lovely weekend.  Don't do anything I wouldn't do! lol
